The Castle is the starting point for unforgettable walks among cypress-trees, grapevines and olive trees, junipers and brooms. Your stay also gives the chance to take part in the activity of the farm and visit the old underground cellars that are a real jewel of the Castle. You can spend your time making excursions in the neighbourhood, choosing one of the guided tours among castles, wine-bar, artisanship, gastronomy in the beautiful area round Florence and Siena, for ex. in little towns of Monteriggioni and San Giminiano or in the characteristic villages of Gaiole, Radda, Vertine, Barbischio und Volpaia.
Six apartments, which are directly attached to the wall of the castle or fortress, have been restored since summer 1998. They have taken the place of previous small buildings meant to be used by the farm.
Each apartment has a terrace or garden for relaxing in the open air.
The Bedrooms and Suites are located in the Castle or in the "Canonica". The prices of all the B&B rooms in the Castle and the Canonica include breakfast in the old Farm kitchen on the first floor of the Castle where there is a great mediaeval fireplace. Oil heater heating.
La Loggia: is a small house on two floors, a little outside the Castle walls, 150 m from the pool. On the top floor there is a living-room with a kitchnette and a satellite TV, outside a veranda with terrace and a garden. On the bottom floor there are two bedrooms: a double room and a bedroom with two beds, a bathroom with shower. In front of the bedrooms there is a terrace and a private parking area.
Terrazze 1 and Terrazze 2: The two apartments are directly attached to the walls of the fortress, 100 m far from the pool located under the walls. They have a very spacious characteristic living-room with a kitchen and a bathroom with shower. Above on the intermediate floor there is a double bedroom. In the living-room there is a sofa bed. Air conditioning, satellite TV.
Limonaia 1 e Limonaia 2: These two apartments are directly attached to the south-west wall. Each has a living-room with a kitchen and a spacious double bedroom. In the living-room there are two sofa beds, satellite TV. Outside each living-room there is a sunny terrace to get to the pool, only 60 steps away.
Limonaia 3: This is a small house on two floors, attached to the end of the fortress walls, 50 m. from the pool. On the top floor there is a living-room with kitchnette, satellite TV and private garden, next to the vegetable garden of the aromatic essences. On the bottom floor there is the bedroom and the bathroom with shower.
Casanuova: It is a beautiful Renaissance farmhouse built round a rustic characteristic threshing-floor in a fine panoramic position over the Castle, the valley of the Massellone river and the medieval village of Vertine. It has been recently fully restored and transformed into a prestigious Villa with 4 apartments: Pietro Leopoldo, Pio Maria, Eleonora Teresa, Cesare Orazio, with every comfort, satellite TV included. Some of them have also air conditioning system, hydromassage bath and traditional fireplace in the living-room. The furnishing is simple but refined, the ceiling has exposed timber beams and the floor fired bricks. For those fond of traditional cuisine there is a big wood-oven where the guests can prepare dishes of the ancient Tuscany tradition. Outside a big garden invites you to "bask" in the sun.
Vignanova: It is a recently restored detached house for 6 people on the ground floor. It consists of: Living-room with kitchnette, 2 double rooms with 2 private bathrooms, one bedroom with two beds, private bathroom and independent entrance on the threshing-floor, air conditioning, satellite TV. From the terrace you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the castle.
